KYIV, May 25 – Hitachi Energy planned to take part in a tender for the supply of BESS (battery energy storage system) as part of the project of PrJSC Ukrhydroenergo for the construction of Energy Storage 212 MW, Oleksandr Kovalev, head of the department for automation of electrical substations and grids of Hitachi Energy Ukraine LLC, said.
"Before the war, we wanted to implement a project at Ukrhydroenergo using exactly BESS technologies. This is about 200 MW, distributed, if I'm not mistaken, over four locations of about 50 MW each. But, unfortunately, this project is still frozen, of course, for understandable reasons," he said during an online forum on the development of energy storage systems in Ukraine, organized by the Energy Club on Thursday.
