KYIV, April 26 – The European Commission and five EU member states bordering Ukraine – Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania and Bulgaria – are close to reaching a solution to the problem of importing Ukrainian agricultural products, European Commissioner for Agriculture Janusz Wojciechowski said at a press conference following a meeting of the EU Agriculture and Fisheries Council (AGRIFISH) in Luxembourg.
The commission's proposal on the table is to introduce a temporary import ban, but not for the entire European Union, only for the five member states bordering Ukraine for the five most sensitive products, namely maize, wheat, rapeseed, sunflower and sunflower oil, he said.
