KYIV, April 18 – Bans on the import of Ukrainian grain by Poland, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia are not as critical compared to the strengthening of the blockade of the grain corridor in the Black Sea, according to the analytical department of the First Ukrainian Agricultural Cooperative (PUSK), created within the public association Ukrainian Agri Council (UAC).
"The panic around European bans on the import of Ukrainian grain is unjustified. If you look at the structure of exports, Ukraine supplies more than 60% of wheat by sea. From the same Romania, Ukrainian products are actually re-exported. The share of Ukrainian wheat exports to Poland, Bulgaria and Slovakia is not significant for the market. Ukraine is interested in transit through Europe. But for farmers, the full functioning of the 'grain corridor' and access to the Black Sea ports are more important," the council said on Tuesday.
