KYIV, Feb 28 – Agro-industrial holding Astarta, the largest sugar producer in the country, has reduced natural gas consumption in the sugar production segment by 15% over 10 years, the group's Facebook page reports.
"Only in sugar production, over the past 10 years, we have reduced natural gas consumption by 15%. We are actively involved in projects in the bioenergy industry. In 2014, we built a biogas complex, which made it possible to partially replace natural gas at our sugar and soy processing plants. The biogas complex itself uses sugar beet pulp as the main raw material," Astarta quotes its head of the department for investor relations and sustainable development, Pavlo Popov.
