KYIV, Feb 16 – The decline in electricity imports is due to the increasing capacity of Ukrainian generation, but the possibility of its implementation is always open, Board Chairman of Ukrenergo Volodymyr Kudrytsky has said.
"Imports are melting before our eyes because the available generation in the Ukrainian power system is increasing. Ukraine's capability to produce electricity is increasing. Ukrainian electricity is cheaper than European electricity, and Ukrainian consumers have received an incentive to refuse imports when there is enough domestic resource," Kudrytsky said at a briefing at the Media Center in Kyiv on Thursday.
