PIVDENNOUKRAINSK, Jan 17 – Head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi continues negotiations on the creation of a security protection zone at the Russian-occupied Zaporizhia nuclear power plant (NPP), but they are going hard because of the different perceptions of the parties on this issue.
"It is very important that we finally manage to create a security protection zone at the ZNPP, because the situation remains very difficult. It is not in anyone's interests to have a nuclear accident or a nuclear incident with radiological consequences. Yes, we need much more time than I thought at first. But we must not forget that a war is going on now, all views on this creation, all the goals of different parties are different. But I am very optimistic," Grossi said at a briefing at the Pivdennoukrainsk NPP on Monday.
