KYIV, Oct 14 - Canada has signed the first special guarantee in the amount of EUR 36.5 million as part of a EUR 300 million loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) provided to Naftogaz Ukrayiny.

"Canada, a founding member of the EBRD and an important contributor to its work, signed an agreement to enable, together with others, a EUR 300 million EBRD loan to Naftogaz. In doing so, Canada will provide a EUR 36.5 million guarantee to help compensate for the loss of natural gas production due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine," the bank said.
