KYIV, Sept 27 – EU sanctions in response to the so-called Russian referendums in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine should hit the Russian economy, limited minor economic measures will not be enough, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has said.
"It will not be enough just to impose personal restrictions on those persons who will take part in organizing and holding these referendums. It will not be enough to limit to minor economic measures. An extremely serious, effective reaction is needed with specific things that will hit the Russian economy. The softer the reaction to the so-called referendums is, the greater will be the motivation of the Russian Federation to further escalate and annex territories," Kuleba said at a press conference with French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna.
