KYIV, July 19 – The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has collected evidence that the Russian occupation forces, which had seized Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) and controlled it on February 24 through March 31, 2022, committed a nuclear terror act, the special service said on its website on Tuesday.
"Despite the fact that the reactors do not work, the enterprise is still a huge complex with three storage facilities for spent nuclear fuel and a number of radioactive waste fields. By turning this facility into its temporary military base, Russia has flagrantly violated the Geneva Conventions, which directly forbid attacks on nuclear facilities during an armed conflict," the SBU said.
