KYIV, July 8 – The UN High Commissioner for Refugees is helping Ukraine with a short-term recovery, but the government should seriously think about Ukraine's reconstruction, UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi has said.
Also we are starting now to help the government with repairs. If the house is completely destroyed, it needs reconstruction. We are not equipped for that. But repairing damaged houses many people need that – this we can do. I saw a destroyed house today. We have provided a kind of small prefabricated unit where people can spend a few months. We will continue to do that but the government needs to think about reconstruction in a big way. We understand that this is very difficult," Grandi told Interfax-Ukraine.
