KYIV, June 24 – Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk and EU Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries Virginijus Sinkevicius have discussed environmental threats in connection with the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
The war unleashed by the Russian Federation in Ukraine threatens the environment. In the early days, Russian missiles flew over nuclear power plants in Ukraine: Chornobyl nuclear power plant was captured, Zaporizhia and Pivdennoukrainska nuclear power plants were [partially] destroyed – all this creates a danger and shows Russia's irresponsibility in this area," Stefanchuk said at a meeting with Sinkevicius on Friday in Kyiv.
