Kuleba says Russia is trying to start world food crisis by blocking ports
Journal Staff Report

KYIV, May 25 – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba urged not to succumb to the blackmail of Russia to lift the blockade on the export of Ukrainian agricultural products in exchange for the lifting of sanctions against Russia.

While we fully sympathize with everyone in the world who will face the huge consequences of the Russian blockade of Ukrainian agricultural exports, I want every politician, regardless of his or her status in international relations or the country he or she represents, before speaking, that sanctions should be lifted in order to save children somewhere in the world from starvation, visit Ukraine, see dead Ukrainian children, talk to parents whose children were raped by Russian soldiers, and cease talking," Kuleba said at a discussion at the Ukrainian House in Davos in Wednesday.

He said some countries in the world are being blackmailed by Russia that they will unblock Ukrainian agricultural exports if the West lifts the sanctions imposed against Russia.

Russia is engaging in blackmail, saying they will unblock Ukrainian agricultural exports if the West lifts the sanctions imposed on Russia. Unfortunately, some countries are falling for this. I received a report today that a very important international dignitary in charge of global trade, also goes for it and starts saying: 'Perhaps this is a good idea, because saving people from hunger is more important than imposing sanctions against Russia," the minister said.

Kuleba said that only Russia is responsible for the global food crisis.

We must focus our efforts on countering the Russian narrative that the only way to prevent a global food crisis is to lift sanctions on them," he said. (om/ez)
