KYIV, April 26 – The Ukrainian Association of Secondary Metals (UAVtormet) points to the continued active discussion of a topic of military scrap metal – the UAVtormet expert scientific council constantly receives requests and offers to comment on a situation in this market segment.

The information released by the association lists the main problems in obtaining military scrap metal.

In particular, it is noted that destroyed military equipment and scrap metal obtained as a result of its disposal – fundamentally two different materials. In order for a tank or armored vehicle to become salable scrap metal, it is necessary to carry out a number of costly operations – an examination of explosiveness, sanitization, moving to a storage site using special equipment, inspection by the repair and restoration units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, security, cutting, sorting, etc. The total cost of such operations is high and can often exceed the value of the resulting scrap metal.
