KYIV, April 8 – Ukraine will continue to insist on a full gas and oil embargo for Russia, disconnecting all Russian banks from the SWIFT payment system, ensuring that all ports are closed to Russian ships and Russian goods with a minimum number of exceptions based on humanitarian reasons, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said.
"I hope that they [the new sanctions] will be fully applied, this is definitely a step forward. A week ago, the sanctions proposals were, to put it mildly, much weaker. We were very unhappy about it. We have been working with partners in the G7 and the EU to make sure that the sanctions pressure will increase. We have achieved success, but I cannot say that we have achieved 100% success. We will continue to insist on a full gas and oil embargo for Russia, on the desviftization of all Russian banks, on ensuring that all ports are closed to Russian ships and Russian goods with a minimum number of exceptions based on humanitarian reasons," Kuleba said at a briefing with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Brussels on Thursday.
