KYIV, April 8 – President Volodymyr Zelensky has called on the government to take measures to restart the economy and to revive small and medium-size businesses in areas that have been liberated from Russian occupation.

"The economy is also the front on which we fight for our freedom, for our state, for our people. Therefore, we must constantly look for ways to adapt to changing circumstances," Zelensky said in a video message on Thursday night.

He added that representatives of the central government, officials, local leaders, political and business communities should be "the most creative and courageous in dealing with economic issues."

"We must all together find the necessary ideas, the necessary solutions for the country's economy to stabilize," the president said.

As the head of state said, if to restore the economy it is necessary to move enterprises to certain areas, update legislation, provide business with more space for development, then members of parliament need to do this as quickly as possible.

He also urged the leaders of communities where there is no threat of land military clashes to do everything possible so that people return and work.

"To restart economic processes. To restore normal life – to the extent that security allows. This applies to the entire horizontal cooperation of local authorities – mayors, deputies of city and regional councils. Look for solutions for each district, for each region! Together with the government, together with us, with the Office of the President, together with the members of the Verkhovna Rada. An economy that works is just as important as our brave, strong army," Zelensky said. (om/ez)
