Ceasefire, withdrawal of Russian troops is compromise Ukraine may accept
Journal Staff Report

KYIV, March 22 – President Volodymyr Zelensky said that a ceasefire, the withdrawal of Russian troops and the provision of security guarantees to Ukraine would be a compromise for all sides.

"People, if they want to end the war: cease fire, withdraw troops. The presidents met, agreed that the troops should be withdrawn, that there are certain security guarantees, that compromises can be found, that there are certain guarantors of our security. They [the guarantors] should say that they take Ukraine into NATO and not play with it anymore or say that they are not taking it now [Ukraine], which is true," Zelensky said in an interview with public broadcasters in a number of European countries.

"There are NATO member countries that want to be guarantors that cannot provide us with 100% membership in the Alliance, but are ready to do everything that the Alliance would have to do if we were its members. And I believe that It's a normal compromise," he added.

According to the President, such a compromise would be suitable for all parties.

"It is a compromise for everyone. For the West, which does not know what to do with us with regard to NATO, for Ukraine, which wants security guarantees, and for Russia, which does not want to further NATO expansion. And a compromise needs to be found in this, as this will be the point at ending the war," Zelensky said. (om/ez)
