KIEV, Nov. 2 ??“ Allowing foreign banks to open branches in Ukraine, as has been proposed by President Viktor Yushchenko, could hurt Ukrainian banks, a domestic banking lobby group said.

"The state should provide equal conditions on the market. If you are not able to provide this, you should cut the presence of foreign capital," Oleksandr Suhoniako, the president of the Association of Ukrainian Banks, said.
