Ukraine’s anti-monopoly agency allows Kazakh firm to acquire BTA Bank
Journal Staff Report

KYIV, Dec 9 – The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) has permitted the fintech company Kaspi.kz (Kazakhstan) to acquire BTA Bank (Kyiv).

As the AMCU press service told Interfax-Ukraine, the committee made such a decision at a meeting on Thursday.

In October this year, Kaspi.kz announced the signing of a sale and purchase agreement for 100% of the bank's shares and plans to complete the deal in the first half of 2022. "It is purchased exclusively to obtain a banking license in Ukraine. This will allow us to launch fintech products, open mobile wallets, accounts, and so on," Kaspi.kz said in the third quarterly report published on its official website. The cost of the deal was not disclosed.
