KYIV, Sept 13 – Shifting the burden of financing decarbonization onto taxpayers would be wrong, Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Ukraine Matti Maasikas said at a conference in Kyiv.

"The polluter must pay. The authorities must work more boldly with this," the ambassador said.

According to him, the payment for CO2 emissions is EUR 0.15 per tone in Ukraine, while over EUR 50 in the EU.
