KYIV, Aug 18 – The Ukrmetalurgprom Association of Enterprises has appealed to President Volodymyr Zelensky with a request to raise during a meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden at the end of August the issue of replacing the 25% duty on metal products for deliveries to this country with duty-free quotas.
According to a letter from head of Ukrmetalurgprom Oleksandr Kalenkov, a copy of which is at the disposal of the Interfax-Ukraine agency, 25% duties were introduced in March 2018 by the previous U.S. President on the import of all types of steel products from all countries. However, some countries subsequently succeeded in obtaining exemptions from such a duty. Ukraine also tried to get an exemption from this duty, but to no avail.
