KYIV, July 14 – ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih (Dnipropetrovsk region) has suspended purchases from the Belarusian Automobile Plant (BelAZ), which has come under European sanctions, is analyzing the situation with a possible change of the supplier of heavy-duty dump trucks of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, company's CEO Mauro Longobardo said.
"BelAZ is a big problem. They produce equipment for mining operations, we bought BelAZ machines from them, we have a lot of them. And we have open deliveries, orders placed with the company. I sent this question to our law department, to understand legally what we can and what we cannot [do in this situation], based on the sanctions that have now been imposed," he said at an informal press conference in Kyiv in response to a question from Interfax-Ukraine.
