KYIV, July 5 – Ukraine does not conduct formal negotiations on compensation in the event of the completion of Nord Stream 2, but will be guided by the principles of security and ensuring the implementation of agreements by Russia if it comes to that, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said.
"We are working on 'plan A' and we are not officially negotiating compensation. But with the possibility of a 'post-match penalty shootout' in mind, we have formed two principles with which we can talk about compensation if it comes to that. This is the principle of safety - how the security of the state will be guaranteed. The second is ensuring the implementation of the agreements because it is possible to agree with Russia, and even Germany may guarantee something in these agreements, but how to force Russia to comply with the agreements is a big question to which there are no answers," Kuleba told reporters on the sidelines of the Ukraine 30. International Politics All-Ukrainian Forum in Kyiv on Monday.
