KYIV, June 30 – The overwhelming majority of Ukrainians (84.9%) consider knowledge of the English language necessary, and 86.9% admit that it gives career advantages and that it should be compulsory for learning up to the intermediate level at Ukrainian schools, according to the results of a study "Perception of Foreign Languages by Citizens of Ukraine," conducted by the sociological company Active Group from May 29 to May 30, 2021.
Knowledge of the German language was called necessary by 22.2% of Ukrainians, French – 13.7%, Spanish – 13.6%, Polish – 11.1%, Russian – 9.6%, Chinese – 6.5%, Portuguese – 6.3%, Arabic – 2.4%, and the rest – 1.4% combined.
