KYIV, June 30 – The introduction of additional restrictions on the Ukrainian power market, already suffering from them and other interference, is inappropriate, but the regulator needs to monitor the market and investigate where there are signs of manipulation, Director of the EU Energy Community Secretariat Janez Kopac has said.

The Energy Community Secretariat urges the National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission of Ukraine (NEURC) to use its powers to monitor the market and initiate investigations where there are signs of manipulation. Potential manipulations should not cause restrictions that go beyond reasonable and necessary market practice, he said in a letter to NEURC Head Valeriy Tarasiuk dated June 18, seen by Interfax-Ukraine.
