KYIV, May 7 – The actual mortality rate from the coronavirus (COVID-19) disease in Ukraine in 2020 is 138,507 deaths, while official statistics shows 46,737, according to the independent global health research center Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington on Friday.
According to IHME, COVID-19 has caused 6.9 million deaths globally, more than double what official reports show.
According to it, the mortality rate is also 3 times underreported in Romania (3.1 times – 87,600 versus 28,300 according to official statistics), India (3 times – 654,400 deaths versus 221,000), as well as 2.8 times in Mexico (617,000 and 217,000, respectively).
