KYIV, March 26 – In the spring of 2014, during the occupation of the Crimean peninsula, the so-called "little green men" controlled by Russia, the families of incumbent MPs Viktor Medvedchuk and Taras Kozak (the Opposition Platform - For Life faction) acquired 42% of the shares of Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery in Rostov region for $40,000.
The oil refinery was later used to supply diesel fuel to Russian tanks and other heavy machinery fighting the Ukrainian troops during the battle for Donetsk and Luhansk.
According to Radio Liberty referring to the joint investigation of the Schemes television program and the international project to investigate corruption and organized crime "Russian Money, Ukrainian Politics," since 2014 and to the present time, Novoshakhtinsk Plant of Petroleum Products has provided both families with dividends of over $100 million.
