KYIV, March 19 – Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine LLC (GTSOU) is studying the possibility of re-equipping 34 compressor stations into gas-fired power plants, Head of GTSOU Serhiy Makogon said.

"GTSOU is developing options for optimizing gas transmission system and is considering the possibility of re-equipping 34 compressor stations into gas-fired power plants. The use of existing compressor stations will significantly reduce the amount of necessary investments in projects to create balancing power plants, since such sites already have a connection to the gas transmission system and power grids and other necessary infrastructure. In fact, it is only necessary to install a turbine and a generator," he wrote.
