KYIV, Feb 11 – More than 300,000 Ukrainians traveled across the country and overseas during Christmas and New Year holidays, according to data provided by Kyivstar, Ukraine’s largest cell phone company.

The numbers are surprising as the government has introduced a strict quarantine for the period, ordering shut down of restaurants and movie theaters, suggesting that many have still decided to travel.

Ukraine’s population is 45 million, according to the government’s most recent data.
