KYIV, Feb 4 – Socio-economic problems in Ukraine may lead to protests, according to the results of a nationwide survey conducted by sociologists of the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation together with the Center for Political Sociology on November 3-16, 2020.
When asked "What, in your opinion, can lead to mass protests in your city (village)?," 38.1% of respondents indicated the closure of enterprises, 35.7% named such factors as deterioration of medical services, closure of hospitals, a shortage of drugs and the introduction of paid medical services. Some 35.6% of respondents are ready to protest in connection with the increase in tariffs for utilities, another 35.3% - due to worsening living conditions, 30.6% associate possible protests with weakening of the hryvnia and a sharp increase in prices.
