DTEK Pavlohradvuhillia launches 1.56-MW cogeneration unit at Stepova mine

KYIV, Jan 28 – Pershotravensk mine management, part of DTEK Pavlohradvuhillia, together with Ukrainian Recycling Solutions, put into operation a cogeneration unit at Stepova mine for the production of electricity and heat from coal mine methane with an electric capacity of 1.56 MW.

At Stepova mine, DTEK has implemented a methane utilization pilot. Now the dangerous gas that is released in mine workings during coal mining is not only pumped out to the surface to ensure the safety of miners, but is also converted into electricity and heat at a special cogeneration unit," the DTEK press service said.
