KYIV, Dec 4 – Former President Petro Poroshenko attacked the government for keeping low expenditures on armed forces in 2021 budget draft even as Ukraine is fighting off the Russian aggression. Instead, he said the government seeks to boost spending on police.
"If we analyze figures, more than 3% of GDP should go to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. And less than 2% to the rest of the security forces. This rule is simply breaking down. At present, funding is increasing only in the Interior Ministry, SBU, the Prosecutor General's Office, the State Bureau of Investigations. Moreover, it immediately doubles," Poroshenko said in an interview on the Espresso television channel.
