KYIV, Nov 4 –The adoption by the Constitutional Court of a decision on non-compliance of Land Reform with the Basic Law will throw the country back into the Middle Ages and put an end to the implementation of this reform, said the former Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture (2019-2020), Kyiv School of Economics President Tymofiy Mylovanov.
"If this decision is true, and 'malicious tongues' say that it is true, then this is the end of the reform. I hope this will not happen. If this is not the case, then people will be able to finance, invest in land, development, agriculture and construction. The lack of a land market will deprive us of the opportunity to develop the economy and agriculture, will not allow people to become masters on the land, will not give the opportunity to build democracy based on property rights, will reduce the development of the private sector in the economy. This step will return us to the Middle Ages," he said during the roundtable between KSE and the World Bank on Wednesday.
