KIEV, Sept. 18 - The World Bank signed a landmark emission reductions purchase agreement with Ukraine??™s hydro power generator UkrHydroEnergo, under the Joint Implementation mechanism of the Kyoto Protocol, the World Bank reported Monday.

The agreement, which was signed on Friday, is the first such deal by the World Bank in Ukraine and covers the purchase of 1 million Emission Reduction Units under the Joint Implementation mechanism, the bank said.
