KYIV, May 28 – The High Land Court of Oldenburg, Germany on Wednesday denied the extradition to Ukraine of former member of parliament Oleksandr Onyshchenko, Deutsche Welle has reported.
According to the court's decision, it is currently impossible to establish that Onyshchenko is being prosecuted in Ukraine for political reasons. However, as noted in the explanation of the decision of the judicial body, "there is a significant likelihood" that in the case of Onyshchenko's extradition, "minimum standards of international law regarding conditions of imprisonment," including the European Convention on Human Rights, will not be observed.
Court judges also revoked the warrant for Onyshchenko's extradition arrest.
