KYIV, May 27 – Energoatom, the state-owned nuclear power generating company, reduced power output to 52% of its capacity amid weak demand due to the coronavirus pandemic, Petro Kotyn, acting president of Energoatom, said Wednesday.
The power output dropped to “historic minimum” levels that may trigger serious financial problems at the company, he said.
The government recently ordered Energoatom to shut down and reduce capacity of several nuclear power units to align with weaker demand due to the pandemic.
