KYIV, May 7 – Power generation by private company UkrHydroEnergo could fall by almost 50% in 2020 due to shallowness of rivers compared with the average figures in the previous years, Director General Ihor Syrota said.
"Today in Ukraine there has been a historical situation with low water levels in our rivers. For 140 years we have not had such a situation. This, of course, affects the work of our company. On average in previous years we generated 10.5 billion kWh, and this year there will be no more than 5.2 billion kWh, he said during a roundtable devoted to problems in the electric power industry on Tuesday.
