KYIV, April 30 – Ukraine will seek to save thousands of jobs in the coal mining sector as the country’s demand for energy has collapsed due to coronavirus quarantine since March, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.
Shmyhal, who leads the government’s energy crisis response team, said the government will study ways of preserving jobs. People familiar with the issue said the government will likely orders for increased power generation by coal-burning power plants.
