KYIV, April 23 – Ukraine may see the current account deficit of $1.1 billion in 2020, compared with previously expected surplus of $3.2 billion, due to the economic crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the National Bank of Ukraine reported.
The current account will switch back to surplus in 2021, the NBU said.
According to the central bank's macro-forecast updated on April 23, the surplus will be $600 million in 2021 (the previous estimate was $1.6 billion), and in 2022 some $1.3 billion ($400 million).
