KYIV, April 24 – Ukraine’s security service SBU listed more Russian software companies as potential cybersecurity threat and asked President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to ban their use in the country.
SBU chief Ivan Bakanov suggested adding to the banned Russian companies anti-virus software firm Kaspesrsky, search engine Yandex, email firm Mail.ru, Doctor Web, 1C and Parus. Ukraine previously banned Russian social networks VKontakte and Odnoklassniki.
"Today we don't only protect Ukrainian citizens from fakes and bogus stories from Russian social networks, but also take care of cybersecurity for representatives of business, government and educational institutions. After all, any Russian postal service or antivirus can be used to the detriment of Ukraine. Therefore, it is necessary to minimize risks. By blocking such resources and programs, we care about the security of the country as a whole," Bakanov said.
