KYIV, April 13 – Ukraine’s power output dropped 7.7% on the year to 40.28 billion kWh in January-March, reflecting weaker demand due to coronavirus quarantine and business closures, the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection reported.
Nuclear power plants (NPPs) during this period reduced their electricity production by 4.2% year-over–year (y-o-y), to 22.565 billion kWh. In particular, electricity output by Zaporizhia NPP was 8.814 billion kWh a drop of 10.9% compared with January-March 2019), Yuzhnoukrainsk NPP generated 6.61 billion kWh (a rise of 6.7%), Rivne NPP 4.946 billion kWh (a drop of 6.5%), and Khmelnytsky NPP 2.195 billion kWh (a rise of 0.3%).
