KYIV, April 13 – Massive wildfires in the exclusion zone of the now defunct Chornobyl nuclear power plant raise safety and radiation risk concerns, and must be investigated, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Monday.
The fires have been raging in the area for more than a week and are now just one kilometer away from the Chernobyl plant.
"I’m closely monitoring the situation in the Chernobyl zone,” Zelenskiy said adding that on Tuesday he will get a detailed report from the head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine Mykola Chechotkin.
