KYIV, Dec 24 – The legislative initiative of the government about treating e-cigarettes and tobacco-containing refill containers as conventional cigarettes is far beyond the European Union (EU) regulation practice, Director of External Relations at Philip Morris Ukraine Natalia Bondarenko said.
"The bill on adaptation of Ukrainian legislation in the field of regulation of tobacco and nicotine-containing products to EU requirements [developed by the Cabinet of Ministers] does not comply with the requirements of Directive 2014/40/EU. Thus, according to this directive, refill containers are classified as separate from cigarettes product categories — the newest smokeless tobacco products," the company's press service said, citing her.
