KYIV, Dec 17 – Temperatures above zero seen in Ukraine in December are favorable for most winter crops, although there is a risk of killing buds of fruit trees if temperatures sharply change to below zero after December 25, Head of the agrometeorological department of the Ukrainian weather center Tetiana Adamenko has said.
"Now there is no threat to winter crops. Considering that 50% of winter crops were sown very late, such warm weather as now is a positive factor: plants grow, develop. However, there are fears of overgrowing of early crops. This is not very good, because that their frost resistance is reduced, but there are few such crops," she told Interfax-Ukraine.
