VYSHGOROD, Nov 25 – The completion of power units Nos. 3 and 4 of Khmelnytsky nuclear power plant (NPP) within the Ukraine-EU energy bridge project, which provides for the transfer of power from power unit No.2 of Khmelnytsky NPP to the EU energy system, is not being implemented due to a lack of demand for nuclear energy from European consumers, Ukraine's Minister of Energy and Environment Protection Oleksiy Orzhel has said.
"The problem is that we cannot confirm [this project] at the level of electricity consumers in Europe. When I asked the Polish prime minister whether they need this electricity, he said that they had a different choice, they chose green energy, they are not interested in it," he told reporters after presenting the ministry's tasks for 2019-2020.
