Ukrainian coke chemical plants cut output 5% in January-October
Journal Staff Report

KYIV, Nov 22 – Ukrainian coke chemical plants in January-October 2019 reduced production of metallurgical coke of 6% humidity by 5% compared to the same period last year, to 8.545 million tons.

The Ukrkoks association of coke chemical enterprises (Dnipro) told Interfax-Ukraine in October 838,000 tons of coke were produced.

Director General of Ukrkoks Anatoliy Starovoit noted that from September the demand for coke from metallurgical enterprises decreased due to a drop in pig iron smelting. At the same time, he noted an increase in the import of coking coal, mainly from the Russian Federation due to quotas for shipments from this country, while earlier coal deliveries to Ukraine from the Russian Federation were carried out under special permits.
