KYIV, Nov 7 – The postponement until March 1, 2020 of the embargo on the import of used freight cars from Russia to Ukraine that Ukraine's government adopted in May, 2019 has led to a sharp increase in the import of them from Russia and a reduction in orders for Ukrainian car builders, National Committee for Industrial Development Secretary Olena Salikhova has said.
"According to Ukrzaliznytsia (UZ), from January 2 to October 3, 2019, 4,207 thousand used cars were imported into Ukraine (90% of which were from Russia), while from January to May 732 cars were imported, and from June to October (that is, after the official announcement of next year's embargo) – 3,059, that is, 4.2 times more," Salikhova told the Kyiv-based Interfax-Ukraine news agency.
