MOSCOW, Sept 9 – Russian President Vladimir Putin and Gazprom chief Alexei Miller have discussed the matter of a gas transit contract with Ukraine at a meeting in the Kremlin, as the current contract nears its expiration on December 31.

The uncertainty around the Ukrainian contract is leading to higher rates of gas pumping into underground storage facilities (UGS) in Europe, Miller said.
