Ukrainians seek lower utility costs, crackdown on corruption
Journal Staff Report

KYIV, April 16 – Ukrainians expect from a new president in the first 100 days of his activity a price lowering in utility tariffs, the submission to parliament of bills on lifting immunity from deputies, judges and the president, as well as the start or acceleration of investigations into the most resonant corruption crimes.

As evidenced by the results of a poll conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) on April 9-14, on the question "Which of the things listed in the card would you like the next president to do in his first 100 days? Choose no more than three answers," respondents' answers were as follows (in Ukraine as a whole): to reduce utility tariffs - 39.1%; to submit to the Parliament bills on the withdrawal of immunity from deputies, judges and the president - 35.5%; to start or speed up the investigation of the most resonant corruption crimes - 32.4%.
