KYIV, Feb 27 – State-owned enterprise Pivdenmash has proposed to build a launch pad for launching new Ukrainian light rockets in Ukraine.
"For more than the past five years, Pivdenmash has been developing technical proposals for the creation of new multi-purpose light Ukrainian launch vehicles (LV). The launch of the new Ukrainian rocket technology to the launch market is directly related to the presence of its own launch pad in Ukraine: as you know, today the national rocket and space industry has no launch pad. Kherson region is considered one of the possible options for locating the launch pad," top managers of Pivdenmash told Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday, commenting on media reports about the plans for the space industry of Ukraine to build a launch pad in Kherson region. Director General of Pivdenmash Serhiy Voit is mentioned among the initiators of the project to create the new launch pad.
