KYIV, Feb 21 – The constitutional amendments making formal Ukraine's strategic course toward joining the European Union and NATO have taken effect Thursday after a government newspaper published the legislation on Wednesday.

Parliament approved the constitutional amendments by 334 votes on February 7, and President Petro Poroshenko signed the bill on February 19.
